Drug Development and Commercialization
Featuring Carol Krantz, former executive director and head of regulatory CMC at Seagen

Carol will share her journey in the development and commercialization of biotherapeutic products, discussing the importance of product and manufacturing characterization knowledge and how these factor into regulatory and quality oversight of clinical trials, drug approvals, innovation and product lifecycle. With 20+ years of experience at small, medium and large biotech companies in the fields of protein expression, cell culture, project management, supply chain and regulatory affairs, Carol will also tie in the advantage of building a toolbox of skills for career flexibility.

About Carol's career journey
After receiving her PhD from the University of Colorado in Immunology/Microbiology in 1993, Carol moved to Seattle for post-doctoral work at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Her industry career journey began at Immunex, where for 12 years she held various independent and management positions in cell culture/protein expression, project management, supply chain and regulatory affairs. She continued in Regulatory CMC for the next 10 years at Amgen, Seattle and helped build the group to support scale up and global expansion. Following closure of the Seattle site, she was an independent consultant and worked at a biotech start-up for a couple years before joining Seagen in 2017. During her 7 years at Seagen, Carol helped license 3 ADCs and a small molecule, participated in one of the first ORBIS submissions and built a 25-person Regulatory CMC team. Throughout her industry career, Carol served as a virology expert and was an active CASSS member, serving as an CASSS Associate Director for the last 7 years.
